For consumers (borrowers) a credit freeze is one way to protect against identity theft by restricting access to your credit report. For example, let’s say a cybercriminal steals your identity (e.g. social security number or other personal information) to try to apply for a loan in your name. With a credit freeze, the lender/creditor would reject the application because they would be unable to access the credit report.
As a result, credit freezes be a challenge for lenders. In this episode of Talk Data to Me, we are joined by Yvonne Sobieski and Keshaun Baker of Certified Credit’s Client Success team. They will discuss the importance of credit freezes for consumers and how lenders can help their borrowers navigate the loan origination process when a credit freeze is in place.
